Osage incorporated as a village on May 8, 1906, and it marked its centennial in 2006. The village takes its name from a town in Iowa.
It sits in the Rural Municipality of Fillmore No. 96, on Highway 33, which runs south-east from Regina to Stoughton, at the point where it meets Highway 711. Children from the area go to school in Fillmore, 13 km away.
Today Osage still has a grain elevator, a post office, a service station and a two-sheet natural ice curling rink. The Osage Wildlife Refuge lies about three miles south-east of the village.
